Baroque
|
The European culture epoch Baroque approximately coincided in time with the absolutism. The Baroque style is characterized by strong tensions between traditional society structures and the changing spiritual world. Especially in arts, the contradictory live-sentiments were reflected: the display of opulent live affirmatives and evolvement of splendor of worldly and spiritual leaders mingled with the yearning for death and the strong awareness of parishability. Multifaceted, overcharged, pathetic illustrations as well as stylistic finesse marked the different art styles, not seldom in such a way that later it was seen as exaggerated and trashy.
The Baroque period is divided into Early, High and Late Baroque.
